The Lee-Fendall House Museum & Garden is available to rent for special events such as weddings, receptions, and dinner parties. Our historic site is also a wonderful setting for bridal showers, garden parties, and birthday celebrations for guests of all ages.  Our indoor event spaces offer a unique and elegant setting for small events or group meetings.  The museum is within walking distance of several hotels and it is close to major transportation, including Reagan National Airport and Metro stations.  Proceeds from our rental program support our museum programs and help preserve our beautiful house and garden.

The Lee-Fendall House Museum is open to the public Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. However, due to special events, programs, and tours, the museum may not always be available for viewing during these times. Please call (703) 548-1789 or email to make an appointment.


The museum grounds are a peaceful oasis in Alexandria’s urban center.  Our garden is our most popular venue, and offers wide latitude for ceremonies, dining, and entertainment.  Our capacity is 150 guests for a ceremony and reception.

The museum offers a special wedding rate of $2400 for a 10 hour rental period, or an hourly rate of $250 per hour.


The Lee-Fendall House is the perfect setting for your private event, whether it’s a reception, office party, or birthday.

The base rate for reserving the museum grounds for a private event is $250 per hour.


The museum’s event space can accommodate up to 25 guests for an intimate seated event such as a tea party or bridal shower.  The use of adjoining spaces increases capacity to 65 guests.  For formal sit-down affairs, capacity is 20 or 40 people respectively.

Our enclosed porch is ideal for meetings of up to 16 people or small lectures for 20 or fewer guests.  Our changing exhibit gallery is also available for small meetings or lectures.

The base rate for renting the museum’s indoor event spaces for a private event during museum hours of operation is $75/hour.


The museum’s garden is an outdoor oasis in the midst of downtown Alexandria, and makes a lovely setting for birthday parties, garden parties, and more.

The base rate for renting the museum garden during museum hours of operation is $100-200/hour.

We strongly recommend the rental of a tent for any outdoor event.


The Lee-Fendall House provides a convenient, economical choice for business meetings and corporate retreats.  The museum’s Event Space can accommodate 15 for a seated meeting, or up to 30 for a lecture-style presentation.  Our Changing Exhibit Gallery or our porch can accommodate 12 people for a seated meeting, or 20 for a seated lecture.

The base rate for renting one of our meeting spaces during museum hours of operation is $50/hour.


The Lee-Fendall House and environs provide a scenic backdrop for professional photography sessions of all kinds, from family portraits to engagement photos and fashion shoots.

The museum and grounds are available for professional photography sessions at a base rate of $25 per hour.

Photographers please note:  The Lee-Fendall House Museum does not take in-kind services in lieu of payment for film or photography projects.


The historic grounds and furnishings of the Lee-Fendall House have provided the setting for a variety of film projects, including documentaries and independent films.

The museum and grounds are available for film and video productions at a base rate of $150 per hour (4 hour minimum).

Producers please note:  The Lee-Fendall House Museum does not take in-kind services in lieu of payment for film or photography projects.

Entry to the Lee-Fendall House requires negotiating a minimum of eight steps.  The Garden is accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. The Board of Directors and staff of the Lee-Fendall House Museum & Garden are committed to developing solutions to provide all visitors equal access to its facilities, programs, events, and activities.  The following schedule for developing an access plan to remove barriers to equal access has been approved by the Board of Directors.
