The Virginia Trust for Historic Preservation is a private, non-profit educational institution whose mission is to preserve the architectural and historic value of the Lee-Fendall House and gardens and to stimulate the public’s knowledge of and appreciation for the history of Virginia and the nation, while advancing the cause of historic preservation.

To these ends the Virginia Trust for Historic Preservation:

• Maintains the Lee-Fendall House according to the best preservation standards to assure its enjoyment for future generations;
• Develops, conserves, maintains and uses a collection of tangible objects; and,
• Interprets to a wide public, through exhibits and educational programs, the role of the inhabitants of the Lee-Fendall House from 1785 to 1965 in the development of the City of Alexandria, the region, and the nation.
